Anti, a popular online commentator whose legal name is Zhao Jing, said his facebok account had been cancelled in January. Facebook company officials said he must use the name issued on his government ID, which is Zhao Jing is the legal name for him due to a strict policy against pseudonyms. Anti said his professional identity as Michael Anti has been established for more than a decade, with published articles and essays. Also, Facebook had cut him off from a network of more than 1,000 academic and professional contacts who knew his as Anti.
However, he argued that Zucherberg`s(who is best known for creating social networking site Facebook). So why he`s any less worthy than Mark Zucherberg`s dog? Facebook answered that the page for the puppy does not violate Facebook`s policies because it is not meant to be personal profile page. It is a tpye of page reserved for business and public figures that fans can 'like' and receive updates from on their own Facebook pages.
Facebook said in an e-mail to Anti that the company has 'tried to keep the rule simple and fair by saying personal profiles must always be set up in the real legal name of the individual concerned'.
It is really the culture different,there is a long traditional in China for writers and journalists to take 'pen name', partrly as protection from retaliation from authorties. 'pen name' is not a real name, it maybe used to make author`s name more distinctive, maybe more convenient in the work.
